With the placing of the rolls in the cartons, the trip of the sugar down from the roof is not completed. For the cartons, after being packed, are carried on a belt conveyor to a wax machine. Here a paper, waxed only on the outside, is wrapped around the carton, and the end is folded in a peculiar manner. The carton now passes through an electric heating unit, which melts the wax just enough to cause a tightly sealed package when the wax hardens again. Through spiral chutes the finished cartons drop to the second floor, where they are packed in boxes.
