Living with virus to be new normal
抗疫将进入新常态
The chief of the World Health Organization said Monday that all countries living with COVID-19 will be the new normal in the coming months, as the pandemic had already infected more than 10 million people worldwide, including nearly 500,000 deaths.
全球新冠肺炎确诊病例超过1000万例,其中近50万人死亡。6月29日,世界卫生组织总干事谭德塞在例行记者会上表示,未来几个月,各国将进入与病毒共存的新常态。
"The critical question that all countries will face in the coming months is how to live with this virus. That is the new normal," said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at a daily press briefing.
谭德塞说:“未来几个月所有国家都将面临如何与病毒共存的关键问题,这将是一种新的常态。”
He added that although many countries have made some progress against COVID-19, the pandemic is speeding up globally.
他表示,虽然许多国家在控制疫情上取得了一些进展,但是在全球范围内,疫情正在加速传播。
He urged all countries to prioritize five sets of measures to save lives, including empowering communities and individuals to protect themselves and others, suppressing virus transmission, saving lives with oxygen and dexamethasone for instance, accelerating research on COVID-19, and strengthening political leadership and solidarity.
他呼吁各国优先采取五方面措施来拯救生命,包括赋权社区和个人来保护自己和他人、遏制病毒传播、用吸氧法或地塞米松等疗法拯救生命、加快对新冠肺炎的研究、加强政治领导力和团结。
