Mass alcohol poisoning has killed at least 58 people in the Siberian city of Irkutsk in Russia and hospitalized dozens.
日前，俄罗斯西伯利亚城市伊尔库茨克发生大规模酒精中毒事件，已造成至少58人死亡，数十人入院治疗。
The fatalities occurred after local people turned to bath lotion containing methanol as a cheap alternative to vodka or other intoxicating drinks.
当地人把含甲醛的浴液当作伏特加和其他酒精饮料的廉价替代品饮用，导致了这起致死事故的发生。
Officials say the lotion was clearly labelled with warnings that people should not consume the content.
官员称，浴液上有明显标识警告人们不能饮用。
One hospitalised man described his symptoms. "In the morning, when I woke up, I had a severe headache. I realised that I was losing my vision. When I looked at the light it felt like I was blinded by car headlights," he said.
一位住院治疗的病人描述了自己的症状。他说道：“早上起来，我的头就非常疼。随后我意识到我的视线开始变得模糊了。当我看着亮光的时候，我就感觉像是被汽车的车灯晃瞎了一样。”
Alexei Tretyakov, a toxicologist at the Regional Health Ministry, explained the sudden rise in cases. "The large number of people who died under these circumstances can be explained first and foremost by the high concentration of methanol in the liquid they drank. 30-50 ml of methanol is considered a lethal dose."
当地卫生部门一位名叫阿列克谢·特列纪亚科夫的毒理学家对这一突然爆发的案件作出了解释：“死于这一情况的绝大多数民众，主要是因为他们饮用的液体中有高浓度甲醇。30-50毫升的甲醇就能致命。”
Perfume, aftershave, anti-freeze and window cleaner are also known to have been used as a substitute for alcoholic drinks.
据悉，香水、须后水、防冻剂和窗户清洁液也曾被人们当作酒精饮料的替代品饮用。
Authorities have put a regional ban on the sale of all liquids containing spirits not meant for human consumption.
当局已在该区域禁止销售所有含酒精、但不适合人类饮用的液体。
