Let's go!
Jack: Hey! That girl over there is checking you out! Why don't you go say hello?
Tim: The last time I said hello to a girl in a place like this, she thought I was coming on to her and blew me off before I had a chance to introduce myself.
Tim说到的blew me off是什么意思呢?
I walked up to that girl to say hello but she blew me off.
Blow somebody off除了“不理睬”的意思之外,还可以表示“to end a romantic relationship with somebody”,译为:结束与某人的恋爱关系。例如:
I thought she loved me, but he blew me off for Barbara.
Blow sb. off 还可以表示“to deliberately not meet sb. when you said you would ”,译为:(故意)失约。例如:
I had a date with Jenny this evening, however, I waited two hours in the cafe and she just blew me off.
She thought I was coming on to her and blew me off before I had a chance to introduce myself. She thought I was coming on to her and ignore me before I had a chance to introduce myself.
By the way, Juliet would like to share my thoughts with all of you.
Bye for now!
