The sixth side, made of a thinner sheet of wood, would be used as the striking surface, or more commonly known as the tapa. A sound hole was also cut into the back to allow the sound to escape.
第6个面是比较薄的木片做的，用来作为打击面，或者更常用的称呼叫做"tapa"(鼓面)。在鼓的背面有割出一个声孔，好让声音可以释放出来。
