在今天的课堂上，我们来学习关于nod的一个用法。我们要表示朝着某个方向点头来表示所谈论的人或物，该如何运用它来表达呢？我们来看下面的例句：

e.g. I asked where Steve was and she nodded in the direction of the kitchen. 我问史蒂夫在哪儿，她朝着厨房点了点头。

e.g. She nodded towards the drawing room and answered he was in there. 她朝客厅方向扬了扬头，回到到他在那里面。

在Example-1中，nodded in the direction of the kitchen的意思是“朝着厨房点点头”，nod后面跟介词短语：in the direction of。它的意思是“朝着……的方向”。For example：He was seen setting off on horseback in the direction of Tarley. （我们看到他骑着马往塔莱那方向出发。）He looked out of the window in the direction of the woodman's gaze.（他顺着樵夫那专注的目光向窗外看去。）联系第一个分句来看，我们可以知道：她朝着厨房点点头是因为当时候的情景是在谈论Steve在哪儿。

在Example-2中，nodded towards the drawing room的意思是“朝着客厅的方向点点头”，nod后面跟介词短语短语，towards the drawing room。联系第二个分句来看，我们可以知道：她朝着客厅点点头是因为当时的情景是某个人问到她“他在哪儿”。

所以，if we want to express “to move your head in the direction of someone or something to show that you are talking about them or it”，我么就需要在nod后面使用介词短语或副词来表示。
