Message on United Nations Public Service Day
联合国公务员日致辞

As the world continues to grapple with the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, public servants have been on the frontlines of the crisis response.
在全世界继续抗击致命冠状病毒病大流行时，公共服务人员始终奋战在危机应对的第一线。
They are the nurses, doctors and paramedics who provide life-saving care;
他们当中有为拯救生命提供医疗的护士、医生和辅助医务人员。
The sanitation workers who disinfect and clean public spaces;
有对公共场所进行消毒和清洁的环卫工人；
The transportation workers who keep busses and trains running;
有保持公共汽车和火车运行的交通运输人员；
The teachers who educate our children both on- and offline;
有在网上网下为我们的孩子提供教育的教师；
And the public health officials, data managers and statisticians who provide vital and reliable information on the transmission and prevention of the disease.
还有公共卫生官员、数据管理人员和统计人员，他们就疾病的传播和预防提供了重要、可靠的信息。
Many of these dedicated individuals have carried out their work in dangerous conditions, with high human interaction and without access to personal protective equipment.
在这些具有奉献精神的人当中，许多人在危险环境下开展工作，高度频繁地与人接触，而且没有个人防护装备。
And some have lost their lives to COVID-19 in the process.
一些人在此过程中被冠状病毒病夺去生命。
Today, as we honour these essential workers and so many more, we must also reflect on how to better protect, recognize and invest in their well-being as we build back better, together.
今天，我们向这些必要工作人员和许许多多的其他人致以敬意，我们同时还必须思考的是，在我们共同更好地进行重建的时候，如何更好地保护、认可、着力保障他们的福祉。
And I say directly to these inspiring public servants: We are all deeply indebted to you for your remarkable acts of service to humankind.
我要直接告诉这些鼓舞人心的公共服务人员：我们都深深感谢你们对人类的杰出服务。
