Today, we are going to visit the magnificent Tian'anmen and Tian'anmen Square together.
今天我们要一同参观的是宏伟壮观的天安门及天安门广场。
Tian'anmen is located in the center of Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China, at the southern end of the Forbidden City.
天安门，坐落在中华人民共和国首都北京市的中心，故宫的南端。
It was first built in the fifteenth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty and was originally called "Chengtianmen", which implies "receiving the mandate of heaven and carrying out the destiny bestowed by heaven".
它始建于明朝永乐十五年，最初叫“承天门”，寓“承天启运、受命于天”之意，
The designer was Kuai Xiang, an imperial architect in the Ming Dynasty.
设计者为明代御用建筑匠师蒯祥。
In the eighth year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed Tian'anmen.
清朝顺治八年更名为天安门。
Tian'anmen is the main entrance of the Imperial City of Beijing in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
天安门是明清两代北京皇城的正门，
In the past, it was not only the venue for royal ceremonies and important rituals, but also a symbol of the People's Republic of China.

The tower is 34.7 meters high and consists of two parts: the city platform and the tower.

Its shape is solemn and majestic with a grand momentum.

In front of the Tian'anmen Tower are the Huabiao and the Jinshui Bridge.
天安门城楼面前是华表和金水桥，
The stone hou on the Huabiao stand on the stone pillars, looking into the distance.
华表上的石犼蹲立在石柱上，注视着远方，
Legend has it that they are mythical beasts that monitor the public sentiment for the emperor.
传说它们是替皇帝监视民情的神兽。
Crossing Chang'an Street, we come to Tian'anmen Square.
穿过长安街，我们来到了天安门广场。
Tian'anmen Square is one of the largest city squares in the world, 880 meters long from north to south, 500 meters wide from east to west, with an area of 440,000 square meters, which can accommodate one million people for grand gatherings.
天安门广场是世界上最大的城市广场之一，南北长 880米，东西宽500米，面积达44万平方米，可容纳100万人举行盛大集会。
In the center of the square is the Monument to the People's Heroes.
广场中心是人民英雄纪念碑，
It is solemn and majestic and was built to commemorate the people's heroes who sacrificed themselves in the People's Liberation War and the People's Revolution.
它庄严巍峨，是为了纪念在人民解放战争和人民革命中牺牲的人民英雄而建立。
On the front of the monument are the eight gilded characters "The People's Heroes Are Immortal" inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong.
纪念碑的正面是毛泽东主席题写的“人民英雄永垂不朽”八个镏金大字，
On the back is the 150-character small regular script inscription drafted by Mao Zedong and written by Zhou Enlai.
背面是毛泽东起草、周恩来书写的 150字小楷字体碑文。
To the south of the Monument to the People's Heroes is the Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, where the remains of Chairman Mao Zedong are placed for people to pay their respects and cherish the memory.
人民英雄纪念碑的南面是毛主席纪念堂，里面安放着毛泽东主席的遗体，供人们瞻仰和缅怀。
On the east side of the square is the National Museum of China, which houses a large number of precious cultural relics and artworks, demonstrating the long history and splendid culture of the Chinese nation.
广场的东侧是中国国家博物馆，这里收藏着大量的珍贵文物和艺术品，展示了中华民族悠久的历史和灿烂的文化。
On the west side is the Great Hall of the People, which is the venue for the National People's Congress of China to hold meetings and is also a place for national leaders and the masses to hold political, diplomatic and cultural activities.
西侧是人民大会堂，是中国全国人民代表大会开会的地方，也是国家领导人和人民群众举行政治、外交、文化活动的场所。
Tian'anmen and Tian'anmen Square have witnessed countless significant historical moments and national celebrations.
天安门及天安门广场见证了无数重大的历史时刻和国家庆典，
From the founding ceremony to the National Day military parades, from major political activities to the joyous gatherings of ordinary people, this place has always been a sacred place in the hearts of the Chinese people.
从开国大典到国庆阅兵，从重大政治活动到普通民众的欢乐聚会，这里始终是中国人民心中的神圣之地。
