In France, holidaymakers face delays or disruption of their travel plans on the French rail network. That's because of the ongoing public transport strikes over proposed pension reforms. Millions of French people are expected to travel in the next few days for Christmas family reunions. Most transport unions have called for the strikes to continue during the holidays as talks between the Prime Minister and Labor leaders failed to reach a compromise. Train travel problems were slightly eased on Saturday with a plan from rail authorities to inform passengers several days in advance and offer ticket exchanges, but only half of the high-speed trains are running and regional trains including those in the Paris region remain severely disrupted. Many commuters are taking alternative modes of transport such as car sharing services or bus companies.
