Hi, Brad, ready to get more into Atlantis?

Yeah, what do you think what questions do you have about Atlantis?

Well, last time you mentioned something saying that all these guesses about where Atlantis is, obviously I would think Atlantis naturally is more linked with Atlantic Ocean just because of the word, right? But you said some people believe it's Antarctica to 南极洲, South Pole, how does that even work? You said it's like ancient maps.

When you look at some of the ancient maps, there's a few that show Antarctica as being much closer to Europe. So maybe because of that, people kind of misinterpreted exactly where Antarctica was, when they were describing Atlantis, and Antarctica might have actually had more of a Continental shift, maybe, because like the Continents are moving very slowly over time. And so maybe where Atlantis was in history was actually much different from where it is now.

It could just be yeah, maybe it's the whole Continental drift because obviously the world all the Continents looked very different thousands of years ago, maybe not thousands, but maybe even earlier...

Exactly.

...millions of years ago they've just shifted. OK, and did they also believe that Atlantis was a much older civilization?

Yeah, they might be like an older like thousands of years more advanced than regular humans, but going back to kind of talking about Antarctica. There's a few like kind of stories about people who have like flown over Antarctica. And once they get to a certain point, the... basically their plane gets taken over. They are moved to this more tropical area of the island somewhere in the center. There's like a whole society living there. And so whether this is actually true or not is completely up to speculation. But there are some stories of people who have flown over Antarctica and seen something like that.

I see, so it's like although it's the South Pole, but there's actually a tropical island hidden within....Okay, that sounds way too far-fetched for me, but whatever these lores are, they were all at least saying Atlantis is on Planet Earth, but I thought there were going to be some sort of space talk, alien talk.

That we will get to that don't worry. I mentioned aliens earlier right? Now there also is the idea that maybe Atlantis isn't on Earth. Somehow we either use some sort of a way to travel to Atlantis using some sort of spaceship or maybe some sort of like a gate so you can just almost instantaneously travel there. There is actually kind of a TV show called Stargate where in the later seasons they found Atlantis and Atlantis was actually on a whole another planet

I think Atlantis has always been a real sought after story in genres like Fantasy and Sci-Fi.

Yeah, because it's such a rich story, isn't it?

Basically it's changed over the years anyways, and now that we're here, why not give it a more modern spin?

Okay, and then what about Atlanteans that the people who lived there, were they same like humans like you and me or were they believed to be different, more evolved, less evolved, or maybe even aliens.

In more traditional stories, people might have just not really understood what an alien was. Sometimes people thought of aliens, maybe they thought of gods as being aliens or maybe they thought of these angels as being aliens, right?

Maybe that's what the words they used then. So it's hard to know exactly what the people thought in the past. So people really just thought that they were humans, but maybe they were a more evolved human or some sort of technological alien that looked more human like

That's going to blow my mind again. It's interesting whenever we talk about more mythology related things or more like futuristic technology related things, you gave me a lot of new perspectives that I have never really had before, whether they are completely nonsensical or they actually make sense, I don't know, but they're just very different.

But bring the topic back to Earth. Are there any real evidence or perceived evidence throughout the years that might be related to the authenticity of Atlantis that it might actually be real.

There are several artifacts that have been put on display in museums. Some people believe them to have been from Atlantis, some are just really simple bits of like jewelry that maybe had originally like different colors that people couldn't make back in the past like it was really difficult to make things in blue or purple in the western world.

And so if someone had like this blue or purple colored artifact people thought that must be like Atlantis. But then there are also some more mechanical devices that people had real difficulty trying to understand how they worked. They're really... a lot of them are difficult to know because they are all really rusty nowadays and they've kind of degraded over time. And so it's difficult to know how they actually work.

People have tried to replicate them and kind of figure out how they might have been used. And some of them just look like they might not have been all that technologically advanced, but some look like when you look at it, you think that must be something really technologically advanced compared to the time.

So it's like maybe it's more about putting things into context. It's like if you think it was an ancient civilization, but it sort of make things that are completely out of that context, out of that ancient or what we would perceive as more primitive context, then people be like, wow. But then again, maybe these artifacts aren't even from the perceived Atlantis, maybe it's from somewhere else.

Right. There's some swords that they found like in the Scandinavian area that are really advanced and people can't replicate the process that they used to make these swords.

And people are just like, how did they have such weapons then. So it's one of those things that have been lost to time. It looks so advanced just because of we can't replicate it today. I see, but it's just a process that someone found and used and it happened to create these really advanced swords. And so it's not necessarily that they were really advanced. Someone just happened to maybe find the perfect way to do something and no one else could replicate it.

Now I think I'm getting a pattern here. Anytime if modern, let's say archaeology find something that they feel like it's too advanced for the period they came from and then there will be some sort of conspiracy theory or hypotheses saying that yeah, how can this sword that was created, let's say, carbon dated like thousands of years ago be so advanced. There must be like a super evolved group of humans or even aliens.

So let's hear the alien talk.

Yeah, I mean especially nowadays there has been a lot of belief in by conspiracy theories, people believe in Atlantis and aliens and UFOs have been on the rise. Lots of people are actually believing in these things, whether they are real or not. It's something that the people are really focusing on, like especially with like UFOs and UAPs, there's a lot of sightings being put out there released by the government.

So people look at them and think what? this is something the government is saying is out there. Right?

UFO I know, unidentified flying objects, but UAP?

They've changed the word a little bit to make it less sound less alien, unidentified atmospheric phenomenon.

That's very vague, 就是大气现象. Ok.

If you say an unidentified atmospheric phenomenon, then you can say it's not even a ship. It's just something in the atmosphere that maybe it's just gas pockets or something like that. You can describe things that are crazy and just be like it wasn't really a ship. It was just some gases expanding and changing in the atmosphere

Ok, that make it sound like a weather forecast.

Mhm. Yeah, but we talked about Psyops and in the past episode

Remind us Psyops are basically, for example, like US government creates these stories, these sightings to divert to distract people.

Right. So some of these things have been put out there and maybe as a way to get people to focus on something else, right? They want them to focus on now what's going on the world today? They want them to focus on something and that could be one of the reasons why there's so much belief in aliens, in Atlantis and all of this.

Because they're leaked by your government. I see that's very interesting, but I guess some people firmly believe that there are alien visitors.

Why not?

It's like in religion, you've got agnostic, although I haven't seen UFO but that doesn't mean there aren't UFO, is that kind of logic?

Right.

What do you think before we end this episode? What do you think about Atlantis? Do you think it actually or something similar ever existed?

I think that there was an island nation somewhere and that island nation probably sunk into the sea. I don't necessarily think they were that technologically advanced. But maybe just the lifestyle that they had was something that maybe other people wanted to have. And because of that people kind of looked at them as being it must be so advanced, they can just relax, they can do the things they like and they can enjoy themselves.

So there must be something right there, right? And so the gods must be a helping them out in some way.

There's that idea of sunshine, tropical island. I think people idealized and romanticized it, the whole idea of Atlantis especially the whole idea about the riches, the gold, the treasure.

Exactly, it's just people see one bit of gold and then all of a sudden they're like there are cities of gold right?

Yeah, over the years this is probably spun out of proportion.
