But for Wu, the hurdles competition is not always smooth sailing.

She was disqualified from the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships due to a false start.

"The start is my obvious mistake. When I jumped the gun early in 2014, it became one of my obstacles.
“起跑是我的硬伤。我2014年就出现了抢跑的情况，然后这就成了我的障碍之一。
What if the past years' practice is all in vain, always worries me. I will slow my start rather than making a false start."
抢跑会让过去几年的练习都成为徒劳，总是让我忧虑。我要放慢起跑速度，而不能抢跑。”
To better prepare for the Chengdu Games, Wu adjusted her mindset.
为了更好地准备成都大运会，吴艳妮调整了自己的心态。
But she says she feels closer to her idol Liu Xiang, another Chinese Olympic champion, when facing challenges.

The young hurdler has a secret weapon to help heal the pain.

Chengdu makes dreams come true, and Wu says she will never stop pursuing the dreams.
