A man in Jiangxi, China arrested for depositing joss paper into an ATM machine
A recent incident in Shangrao, Jiangxi has garnered widespread attention. A man, in an attempt to increase his bank account balance, actually inserted counterfeit money into an ATM machine, resulting in the machine's failure and shutdown.
A bank located in Shangrao reported to the police that someone intentionally damaged an ATM machine inside the bank. The police swiftly dispatched officers to the scene for investigation considering the security of property.
Footage provided by bank staff showed a man inserting a stack of ancestor money into the ATM machine. He then turned to another machine to check if his balance had increased. Shortly after the ATM machine "swallowed" the fake money, it became damaged. The police quickly identified the suspect and apprehended him on the same afternoon.
During the interrogation by the police, the man truthfully confessed what he did to the ATM machine. He claimed that he had no money so he wanted to see if he could exploit a loophole in the system. That's why he chose to insert a stack of ancestor money that resembled the size of Chinese currency into the ATM.
