During evening rush hour yesterday, a blue car was in a lane that was about to end and tried to merge into the left lane at the Caoxi Interchange section on the Inner Ring Elevated Road in Xuhui District.

A driver in a yellow truck didn't slow down as required by law and allow the vehicle into the lane.

The video then shows the yellow truck driving alongside the blue car and pushing it into the concrete side wall.

Seconds later, the blue car accelerates to get alongside the truck and nearly pushes it off the elevated road.

A police statement said the two drivers were essentially "fighting" with their vehicles and that both are now in custody pending a full investigation.

The company that operates the yellow pickup truck said it's used in road maintenance work.

A law professor said the truck didn't have priority since it isn't a special vehicle and it wasn't being used for work purposes at the time.

According to the video, the professor said the truck driver acted intentionally.
根据视频，该教授称，卡车司机的行为存在主观故意情节。
"I think he smashed into the blue car intentionally.
“我认为他是故意去撞那辆蓝色轿车的。
Certainly we should wait for the police investigation to decide whether the behavior is intentional injury, or endangering public safety."
当然我们还应等待警方的调查，来确定这个行为到底是故意伤害行为，还是危害公共安全行为。”
