We are going to continue exploring these sounds by thinking about the letter "o".

The letter "o" is difficult for many people learning English.

Imagine you see three words, all spelled with the letter "o".

mother, mom, motor

Did you hear the differences?

Mother has the /倒e/ vowel sound.

You might be wondering what you can do to correctly pronounce words that are spelled with the letter "o".

Unfortunately, there is no simple answer.

But there are three helpful things you can do.
但你可以做三件有帮助的事情。
First, you need to memorize the pronunciation and spelling of words that you commonly use.

For example, if you talk about your family a lot, you need to pay careful attention to the /倒e/ vowel sound.

Words such as son, brother, mother, cousin, all have the /倒e/ sound.

Learning IPA helps in that regard, but there are many online pronunciation tools you can use, too.
