So we have the subject and lend.

Now remember, the subject is the person who is doing the action,

So subject, lend, object, to someone.

Can you lend some money to me?
你能借给我一些钱吗？（Can you lend some money to me?）
Now, when using borrow
使用borrow的时候，
you can't use an object pronoun after the verb.
动词后面不能用宾语代词。
You can't say "Can you borrow me your car"
你不能说“Can you borrow me your car”
But you can use subject with borrow and the object.
你可以使用主语+borrow+物品。
Can I borrow a pen?
我能借一支钢笔吗？
And then you can add the preposition, from, and the person.
你后面也可以加上介词from，和人。
Can I borrow a pen from you?
我能向你借一只钢笔吗？（Can I borrow a pen from you?）
Can you lend a pen to Paul?
我能把钢笔借给保罗吗？（Can you lend a pen to Paul?）

Practise using lend and borrow.

When I .... you my hairdryer, you said you'd give it back!
当我……你我的吹风机时，你说你会还回来的！（When I .... you my hairdryer, you said you'd give it back!）
When I lent you my hair dryer, you said, you'd give it back!
当我借给（lent）你我的吹风机时，你说你会还回来的！（When I lent you my hairdryer, you said you'd give it back!）
Now, there's an object pronoun here, so it can't be borrow, can it?
这里有一个宾语代词，所以不能用borrow，对吧？
And also take note of the tense used in the second clause.
同时还要注意第二个句子的时态。
The past simple. So your verb needs to reflect this.
是过去式。所以你的动词也要反映出这一点。
They said we could ... their lawnmower.
他们说我们可以……他们的割草机。（They said we could ... their lawnmower.）
Which one is it?
用哪个？
They said we could borrow their lawnmower.
他们说我们可以借用他们的割草机。（They said we could borrow their lawnmower.）
Their lawnmower is not ours so it must be borrow.
是他们的割草机，不是我们的，所以要用borrow。
He'll ... him the money if he really needs it.
如果他真的需要的话，他会……他钱的。（He'll ... him the money if he really needs it.）
He'll lend him the money if he really needs it.
如果他真的需要的话，他会借给（lend）他钱的。（He'll lend him the money if he really needs it.）
So there's an object pronoun here so it can't be borrow.
这里有一个宾语代词，所以不能用borrow。
She asked me if she could ... $500.
她问我是否她可以……500美元。（She asked me if she could ... $500.）
She asked me if she could borrow $500.
她问我是否她可以借用（borrow）500美元。（She asked me if she could ... $500.）
Now the clue here is in the verb asked.
这句话中的线索是动词asked。
The person who is lending the item is not asking for it, are they?
借出东西的人不会主动要求的，对吧？
So it must be borrow.
所以一定是用borrow。
