This is Everyday Grammar. I really like this program.
欢迎收看《每日语法》栏目。我真得很喜欢这个节目。
Yes! It's pretty good, but I think today's subject needs a little revising.
不错,这个节目非常好,但我认为今天的主题要稍稍改一下。
You think so? I think it will be very helpful if we say what we're discussing today.
你怎么这样想?我以为我们今天讨论的内容很有帮助呢。
Of course! We are talking about a special group of adverbs called Amplifiers.
那当然啦!我们说的是一组叫做强势词的特殊副词。
Amplifiers increase the force of a statement.
强势词增强语句的效力。
They make the meaning of an adjective or sentence stronger.
它们能增强形容词或句子的意义。
In American English, Amplifiers have three common uses:
在美式英语中,强势词有3种常见用法:
1 increasing intensity. 2 Expresssing Certainty and 3 Showing precision.
1,加强效力。2,表达确定性。3,表达准确性。
Really and Very are common words that increase the intensity of a statement.
Really和Very是增强语句效力的常用单词。
For example, "This food is good" become stronger if you say "This food is very good."
比如,“This food is good”如果说成“This food is very good”,语气就会加强。
That's a great example of increasing intensity.
这是加强效力的好例子。
To express certainty, you could say instead "This food is definitely delicious".
为了表达肯定语气,你可以说成“This food is definitely delicious”。
Here the word definitely was used to express that certainty.
这里,“definitely”用来表达确定性。
And to show precision using an Amplifier you could say,
用强势词表示准确性,你可以说,
"At exactly three o'clock, I had some very good food."
“三点钟的时候,我吃了一些美味食物。”
Just remember that the Amplifiers you would use in conversation are usually different than those you would use in writing.
请记住,你说话时使用的强势词通常与写作中的强势词不同,
like Indeed, Certainly and Approximately.
比如,Indeed, Certainty和Approximately,
You can use these in conversation, but you might sound a bit formal.
你可以在谈话中使用这些词,但听起来可能有点儿正式。
