Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council, denounced as “absurd” comments by the pro-Brexit Boris Johnson. The former mayor of London likened the European Union to Hitler’s Third Reich. Mr Tusk, a former Polish prime minister, said Mr Johnson had “crossed the boundaries of rational discourse”.
