Five-time NBA All-Star guard Luka Doncic was formally introduced Tuesday as the newest member of the Los Angeles Lakers, coming just days after the franchise completed a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

The 25-year-old Slovenian was part of a three-team deal that sent him to LA along with forward Maxi Kleber and center Markieff Morris in exchange for Anthony Davis, an NBA title winner with the Lakers, guard Max Christie and a future first-round draft pick going to the Mavericks.

Doncic said he was thrilled to be teamed up with four-time NBA Champion LeBron James.

Doncic also spoke fondly of the late, great Kobe Bryant, a five-time NBA Champion with the Lakers, who died in a helicopter accident together with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, nicknamed Gigi, in 2020.

Doncic was originally drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 2018 before being traded to Dallas. He was named NBA Rookie of the Year in 2019.
