The State Council has formally decided to appoint John Lee as the next chief executive of Hong Kong.
日前，国务院已正式决定任命李家超为香港下一任行政长官。
Lee was awaiting approval from Beijing after being elected chief executive designate of the Special Administrative Region earlier this month.
在本月早些时候当选香港特别行政区特首后，李家超一直在等待北京方面的批准。
He will assume office on July 1.
他将于7月1日正式就职。
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang presided over Friday's meeting and signed a State Council decree on the appointment.
国务院总理李克强主持了周五的会议，并签署了《国务院令》。
China's Premier said John Lee and his administration in Hong Kong would have the central government's full support.
李克强总理表示，中央政府将全力支持李家超和香港特别行政区政府的工作。
Premier Li said Beijing would help Hong Kong improve its competitiveness,
李克强总理称，中国大陆将帮助香港提高竞争力，
and enhance its status as an international hub of finance, trade and maritime transport.
并提升其国际金融、贸易、海运枢纽的地位。
He added that the central government was keen to see Hong Kong more integrated into China's overall development.
他补充称，中央政府热切希望看到香港更好地融入国家发展大局中。
