And they took Absalom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and laid a very great heap of stones upon him; and all Israel fled, everyone to his tent.
他们把押沙龙扔到森林中的一个大坑里，然后在他身上放了一推石头。所有的以色列人都落荒而逃，各自回到自己的帐篷里。
Now Absalom, in his lifetime, had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which is in the king's dale;
当押沙龙还在世的时候，他已经在国天谷里立好了一根柱子。
for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance; and he called the pillar after his own name; and it is called unto this day, Absalom's Place.
因为他说没有儿子可以继承他的名字，因此他以自己的名字命名这根柱子。这根柱子就叫押沙龙柱，这个名字一直沿用到今天。
Then said Ahimaaz, the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that the Lord hath avenged him of his enemies.
撒督的儿子亚希玛斯说：“等我跑出去，把耶和华替王杀敌报仇的消息告诉王。”
And Joab said unto him, Thou shalt not bear tidings this day, but thou shalt bear tidings another day:
约押对他说：“你今天不必去报信，可改天再去。
but this day thou shalt bear no tidings, because the king's son is dead.
因为今天王的儿子死了，所以你可以不用去报信。”
Then said Joab to Cushi, Go, tell the king what thou hast seen. And Cushi bowed himself unto Joab, and ran.
约押对古示人说：“你快去把你看到的一切告诉王。”古示人对约押鞠了一躬，就跑去了。
Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok yet again to Joab, But howsoever, let me, I pray thee, also run after Cushi.
撒督的儿子又对约押说：“无论如何，请你允许我跟随古示人一同前往。”
And Joab said, Wherefore wilt thou run, my son, seeing that thou hast no tidings ready?
约押说：“我的儿子，你去报信又得不到应有的酬劳，干吗还要去呢。”
But howsoever, said he, let me run. And he said unto him, Run.
他再次说：“我无论如何都要去。”约押对亚希玛斯说：“那你就去吧。”
Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the plain, and overran Cushi.
亚希玛斯就从平原上开始跑，向古示人的方向跑去了。
And David sat between the two gates; and the watchman went up to the roof over the gate unto the wall,
大卫坐在城瓮里。守望者在城墙大门的顶上，
and lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, a man running alone.
抬起头看了看，看到一个人独自朝这里跑来。
And the watchman cried, and told the king. And the king said, If he be alone, there is tidings in his mouth. And he came apace, and drew near.
看门人随即大声报告给王。大卫王说：“如果他是一个人，他肯定是传令兵。”那个飞奔的人离这里越来越近。
And the watchman saw another man running, and the watchman called unto the porter, and said, Behold, another man running alone.
守望者看到又有一个人跑了过来。他就对看门人说：“看那儿，又有一个人跑过来了。”
And the king said, He also bringeth tidings.
王说：“他肯定也是来报信的。”
And the watchman said, Methinketh the running of the foremost is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok.
守望者说：“前面这个人跑起来的样子特别像撒督的儿子亚希玛斯。”
And the king said, He is a good man, and cometh with good tidings.
王说：“他是个好人，必有喜讯。”
And Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well.
亚希玛斯高声对王说：“一切安好。”
And he fell down to the earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the Lord thy God,
他在王的面前脸朝地跪下来，说，“应当称颂耶和华--你的神，
which hath delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the king.
因为上帝已经把这个动手抗击主和王的人交给了我们的王。”
And the king said, Is the young man Absalom safe?
大卫王问：“押沙龙是否安然无恙？”
And Ahimaaz answered, When Joab sent the king's servant, and me thy servant, I saw a great tumult, but I knew not what it was.
亚希玛斯回答：“当约押派来王的随从，我看到一阵巨大的骚动。但是我不知道这是怎么回事。”
And the king said unto him, Turn aside and stand here. And he turned aside, and stood still.
王说：“你转过去，站在一边。”于是他转过身去，一动不动。
And behold, Cushi came; and Cushi said, Tidings my lord the king; for the Lord hath avenged thee this day of all them that rose up against thee.
随后，古示人来了。他说：“我要向我主我王报信，耶和华今天已经替你向声称攻击你的人报了仇。”
And the king said unto Cushi, Is the young man Absalom safe?
王对古示人说：“押沙龙是否安然无恙？”
And Cushi answered, The enemies of my lord the king, and all that rise against thee to do thee hurt, be as that young man is.
古示人回答说：“希望我主我王的所有仇人，以及所有扬言将你们杀害的人，都能得到和那位少年一样的下场。”
And the king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept;
王悲痛万分，跑到城门上的房间里，失声痛哭，
and as he went, thus he said, O my son Absalom! my son, my son Absalom! would God I had died for thee, O Absalom, my son, my son!
他边哭边说：“我的儿押沙龙！我的儿，我的儿押沙龙！我真想替你去死，押沙龙啊！我的儿，我的儿！”
