The Sun and the North Wind
太阳和北风
The Sun and the North Wind were talking to each other in the sky.
太阳和北风在天空中交谈。
The North Wind was saying that he was better than everyone else.
北风说他比其他任何人都强。
The Sun listened as the North Wind talked with enthusiasm about how powerful he was and how he could push something from one continent to another with one breath.
太阳听着北风兴致勃勃地谈论他有多强大，以及他如何能一口气把某样东西从一个大陆推到另一个大陆。
He said, "I am the strongest thing in the sky."
他说：“我是天空中最强大的东西。”
"Really?" asked the Sun. "How do you know that you are more powerful than the stars, or the rain, or even me?"
“真的吗？”太阳问。“你怎么知道你比星星、雨水，甚至比我都强大？”
The North Wind laughed with disrespect. He yelled, "You? That's a joke!"
北风不敬地笑了。他喊道：“你？那是个笑话！”
This hurt the Sun. He was usually timid and did not want to cause conflict.
这伤害了太阳。他通常很胆小，不想引起冲突。
Today he decided that he should teach the North Wind a lesson.
今天他决定应该给北风一个教训。
In the meantime, a man began walking along an avenue down on Earth.
与此同时，一个男人开始沿着地球上的一条大道行走。
When the Sun looked down on the terrain below, he saw the man.

He pointed down to the Earth and said, "Do you see that man walking below? I bet I can get his jacket off of him. Can you?"

"Of course!" The North Wind replied as he took a deep breath and filled his lungs with air.

He used all of the muscles in his face and belly to blow winds at his target in succession.
他用脸部和腹部的所有肌肉连续向目标吹风。
The harsh air currents made the man cold. The man pulled his jacket more tightly around him.
刺骨的气流使那个人感到寒冷。那个人把外套拉得更紧了。
It did not come off. The Sun decided to rescue the man from the mischief of the North Wind.
外套没有脱下来。太阳决定把那个人从北风的恶作剧中救出来。
He said, "May I try?" Then he sent down sunlight that made the man warm.
他说：“我可以试试吗？”然后他把阳光送下来，使那个人感到温暖。
The man leaned against a tree. He took off his jacket and enjoyed the nice weather.
那个人靠在一棵树上。他脱下外套，享受着美好的天气。
"You are very powerful," the Sun said to the North Wind, "but you use violence in your bid to appear strong. You should think of an alternative. The strongest people don't use force to get what they want."
“你很强大，”太阳对北风说，“但你用暴力来表现你的强大。你应该想一个替代方案。最强大的人不会用武力来得到他们想要的东西。”
