158.The Book Signing
When I heard that my favorite non-fiction author was doing a book signing, I jumped on the next nonstop train to the city!
I could not contain myself with excitement and only nodded off for a couple hours of sleep late into the night!
When I got off the train, I was not nearly as excited as I had been-I didn't know where to go!
Not having any idea where the signing was taking place, I called a taxi and asked him to drive around!
He did not bat an eye! It was no wonder!
I spent almost one hundred dollars driving around-that was good business for him! But we finally found it!
It was none other than the author himself who greeted me at the door!
He was not at all what I expected-he was much more handsome than his picture!
There was not a whole lot I had to say, so I just let him sign my book and started to leave!
Then he asked if I had plans for lunch! I replied that I had none to speak of!
Now there is not much I didn't know about this author, but he turned out to be a real dud for a date!
We did not get anywhere with our conversation-it was as if he couldn't talk! I was none too sad to see that date end!
I went home disappointed! Sure I had his autograph!
But he was so boring in real life, not having any of the charisma that I thought he had!
Oh, well, there was this other author who had been a non-science major in college that was supposed to visit the following week!
Maybe he would be better in person!
