Chuck had a hard time keeping fit. He was overweight and it was bothering his wife.
查克为了保持健康可没少吃苦头。他体重超常,这让他老婆很不爽。
She kept in shape even while keeping house, why couldn't he?
尽管她要管理家务,身材仍保持得很好,他为什么就不行呢?
She even started to try to keep away from him at night!
她甚至开始想晚上和他分开睡!
And his kids could hardly keep down their laughter when he took his shirt off!
他脱衬衣的时候,孩子们几乎控制不住要笑出来!
He knew something had to change.
他知道他得做些改变。
Keeping in mind how no one believed him when he said he was going to diet, he decided to keep his plan from them all.
记得他说要节食的时候谁都不信,所以这回他决定不让他们知道他的计划。
Then he started working out during lunch hour at work.
然后他开始在上班的午休时间搞锻炼。
"Just keep it between the two of us!" He told his secretary.
"这事只能你我知道!"他对秘书说。
And she covered for him every time his wife called when he was exercising.
每次锻炼时有老婆的电话,她都会替他打掩护。
It was tough at first! He could hardly keep his balance on the running machine!
刚开始的时候可困难啦!他在跑步机上几乎都无法保持身体平衡!
But he kept on going, keeping faith to his internal desire to lose weight.
可他一直坚持着,恪守着内心希望减肥的信念。
Things started to change slowly. First his wife no longer told him to keep his hands off her!
情况开始慢慢有了变化。首先是他老婆不再告诉他别碰她!
Then she actually seemed to enjoy keeping company with him. His kids were happy, too.
接着她实际上好像已经乐意和他在一起。孩子们也很髙兴。
Now Chuck was able to keep at playing sports with them in the back yard.
现在查克可以坚持和他们在后院做运动了。
They even started to talk to him more, keeping him current on all of their relationships.
他们甚至开始更愿意和他交谈了,这样他就随时都能了解他们的关系。
One day at the store he saw some old friends. They were very friendly.
一天他在商店里碰到了几个老朋友。他们表现得很友好。
It was then that Chuck realized that they had not kept in touch with him because he had gained so much weight. Now he was thin again!
到这时查克才明白他们过去不跟他保持联系正是因为他太胖了。现在他又变瘦了!
His wife finally figured out what was going on. She couldn't have been happier.
他老婆终于明白了事情的真相。她真是太高兴了。
And she promised to never keep him from going exercising whenever he wanted!
她保证说,任何时候他想出去锻炼,她都不会阻止他!
He was so relieved. And so was his secretary. Now she didn't have to lie anymore!
这下他可以放心了!他的秘书也可以放心了。现在她不用再撒谎啦!
