When Tom got to the check-out counter to check out, he began to sweat.
"Is something wrong?" the lady asked.
"Oh, no," Tom said as he motioned for his girlfriend to come over so that they could change hands with the items they were trying to steal.
The situation then took a change for the worse when he dropped the radio.
"Whoops!" he said. "I dropped my raido."
As he bent down to pick it up, however, the lady checked him over with her eyes.
She saw something bulging out of his pocket.
"Are you sure that's yours?" She asked, looking him straight in the eye.
"Can I buy that candy too?"
"Don't change the subject!
If that's our radio, I'm going to have you charged for theft!"
When she said that, Tom changed his mind and decided to be honest.
He quickly changed his tune.
"Oh, yeah. It's yours.I forgot to check it in.
Here, I'll pay for that too!"
As he looked over to check with his girlfriend he saw her nod toward his backside.
"And I want to buy this, too! he said as he pulled out a CD and put it on the counter.
That made the lady's face change into a smile.
"I'm glad you decided to buy everything you were looking at!" she said.
Walking out check by jowl with his girlfriend she tried to cheer him up.
"C'mon forget stealing.
I like you better when you're honest.
Let's stop chasing the rainbows, okey?"
