The Disadvantages of Big Class Learning

One of my friends complains to me about his relation with his professors saying that there is a far distance between the students and the faculties. As a matter of fact, this is not surprising. Due to the expanded enrollment of college students, many universities can not find enough faculties. It has been so common that hundreds of students crowd in a class listening to a professor. They seldom have enough time to communicate in private.
我的一位朋友抱怨他与他们老师的关系，说学生与老师之间的关系非常疏远。事实上这不稀奇。由于大学扩招，许多大学的师资力量严重短缺。上百名学生一同上课是非常常见的现象。学生与老师之间很少有时间能够私下交流。
As far as I am concerned, the big class learning has many disadvantages. First of all, the big class learning is by no means conducive to the development of the critical thinking of the students. The college education is still the elite education. Therefore, the quality of the graduates is very important. They need to be competent to get a decent job in the job market. The making and development of such qualities are done, most of the time, in classroom.
我认为大班授课有许多弊端。第一，大班授课对学生的批判性思维没有好处。大学教育仍然是精英教育。所以，大学生的质量是非常重要的。他们需要找到适合的工作。我们已经在这一领域做出了发展，这些大多数都是在课堂上完成的。
Meanwhile, the professors are playing a crucial role in moulding the soul of the students. The big class learning cannot manage such kind of tasks. Once the students study in a very big class, they may become very lazy or even play truant. As for the professors, they may not have so much time to talk with the students since they are so many. This may lead to the second disadvantage of the big class learning: the gap and distance between the two parties. Originally, the college campus is the place where the professors and the students enjoy the fun of doing research and pursuing the truth. They may work as one to contribute to the flowering of the scholarship.
与此同时，老师在培养学生方面起着至关重要的作用。然而，大班授课无法完成这样的任务。一旦学生在大班上课，他们会变得非常懒惰，或是开始逃课。作为老师，他们没有更多的时间与学生进行交流，这是因为学生的数量过多。这就会导致大班上课的第二个弊端。就是学生与老师之间的距离和隔阂。起初，大学校园是学生和老师在一起进行学术研究，寻求真理的地方。他们共同努力，创造学术上的辉煌。
However,the fact is the students often feel that they are disconnected with their distinguished professors. The students cannot find their instructors during the time of need. The last disadvantage of the big class learning is that the whole education may get bad or even worse. The big class learning may cause the commercialization of the education, which will be a very serious problem.
但是，事实上学生通常感到他们与老师的距离非常远。当他们需要帮助时，他们无法找到自己的老师。大班授课的最后一个弊端就是整个的教育体系将会变坏。大班授课会让教育趋于商业化，这是一个非常严重的问题。
To sum up, the big class learning has more disadvantages than advantages. It will affect the quality of the graduates as well as the whole education cause in China. The effective measure to deal with it is to limit the enrollment of college students to make a better national education.
总结，大班授课弊大于利。这将会影响到毕业生的质量，以及整个中国的教育水平。最有效的措施就是限制招生人数，这样我们才能提高我们的教育水平。
