The NBA is hugely popular in China with around 800 million fans supporting millions of dollars of business. Basketball is the most popular sport in China with 300 million people playing the game, according to the NBA.

Mr James told reporters he believed Mr Morey was "misinformed". "I don't want to get into a word or sentence feud with Daryl Morey," he said, "but I believe he wasn't educated on the situation at hand and he spoke."
