Kobe Bryant, the former US National Basketball Association league star, launches a US$100 million venture capital fund known as Bryant Stibel at the New York Stock Exchange on Monday.
本周一，前NBA超级巨星科比·布莱恩特在纽约证券交易所启动了一个1亿美元的风险投资基金，名字为布莱恩特·斯蒂贝尔。
Mr Bryant, the former captain of the Los Angeles Lakers, told the Wall Street Journal he felt he has a talent for identifying entrepreneurs.
洛杉矶湖人队前队长科比在接受《华尔街日报》采访时表示，他认为自己在辨别企业家方面很有天赋。
The "Bryant Stibel" fund will invest in tech, media and data companies. Mr Stibel is an entrepreneur and investor who founded several companies including Web.com.
据悉，“布莱恩特·斯蒂贝尔”基金将会给科技、媒体和数据公司投资。斯蒂贝尔先生是一位企业家和投资者，他曾经成立了包括Web.com在内的几个公司。
Mr Bryant, 37, retired from basketball earlier this year after a 20-year career.
今年上半年，在完成长达20年的职业生涯之后，37岁的科比最终选择了退役。
He has invested with Mr Stibel before, but this fund is the first formal partnership between them. The pair are financing the fund themselves.
科比之前也和斯蒂贝尔一起投资过，但是这次这笔风投资金是他们两人第一次正式合作。这笔基金是由两人自己出钱成立的。
Since 2013, they have invested in 15 companies together including sports website The Players Tribune, videogame designer Scopely, and legal-services company LegalZoom.
自从2013年以来，科比和斯蒂贝尔已经一起投资了15家公司，其中包括体育网站“玩家论坛”、电子游戏设计公司Scopely，以及法律服务公司LegalZoom。
Mr Bryant who was known for his strong work ethic in basketball said, similar skills are needed for sport and growing a business.
曾因在篮球领域良好的职业道德品质而闻名的科比表示，不管是体育运动还是经营一家公司，都需要相似的技能。
"It's the inner belief that a person has that he will endure no matter what the obstacle may be. It's that persistence, the entrepreneur doing what he or she truly believes in and truly loves to do," he said.
科比说道：“这是一个人所拥有的内心信念--无论障碍是什么，他都能够克服。正是因为这种坚持，企业家们才能够做自己相信、自己喜欢的事情。”
The pair said the fund will last a few years and look to target companies where they feel they can add value through their business insight, and not through Mr Bryant's celebrity.
科比和斯蒂贝尔表示，这笔基金将会持续运作几年，并且对那些他们觉得可以用自己的商业眼光来增加价值的公司投资，而不仅仅是依靠科比的名人效应。
Mr Stibel told the Wall Street Journal, "We don't want to be in the business of investing in companies so someone can use Kobe as an endorser. That's not interesting. The point is to add real value".
斯蒂贝尔接受《华尔街日报》采访时表示：“我们不想在别人的公司里干商业投资的工作，因为那样的话科比就会被当做代言人。那样没什么意思。重要的是要增加真正的价值。”
