SECTION 2
Teacher: Good morning. We are more than pleased to welcome you to our diverse community. We are sure you will benefit a lot in the following years in the campus. To help you through a time of transition and change, I am going to inform you a couple of tips as how to acclimate to life here in the campus. If you have any questions, please feel free to interrupt me and ask.Well, as you know, each new member of the graduate program received the official offer of admission letter containing your university ID number and a link to the online registration. Since the fall semester begins at September 20th, you need to complete the online registration before 19th of September, which is a Sunday. Online registration consists of paying fees and enrolling in classes. Detailed information about payment could be found atwww.payment.onlineaccount.edu. “Onlineaccount” is one word. Enrollment in classes is supposed to be completed via university records system, which can be easily accessed on the main page of our university website. If you need financial support, you may try University Fellowships & Grants or Teaching & Research Assistantships.
Student: I am a little worried about my academic life in the graduate school. Could you tell us some tips as how to survive here?
Teacher: Don't worry about that. We are here to help. First, I think you should get the most out of the relationship with your research advisor, that means meet him/her regularly, prepare the topics for your meetings, show your advisor the results of your work as soon as possible. About what you read, be organized and efficient. Keep and file all the papers you have read and read only what is helpful. When you meet your goals. reward yourself. Don't compare yourself to senior researchers. Don't be afraid to leave part of your research problem for future work. Occasionally, do something fun without feeling guilty!
