Ian W. Another example of the majority's opinion leading society astray is in the film Avatar.The James Cameron plot revolves around a group of interstellar miners colonizing a planet to strip it of the rare resource,"unobtanium".Although the mining corporation sees no problems with destroying the primitive natives to obtain the rare resource,the protagonist becomes assimilated in to their culture and gains a sense that the natives are not the savages that the colonists view them as,but are in fact a proud species not too different from ourselves.Had the miners succeeded,a small but noble group would have been annihilated at the hands of the greedy,self-serving majority.

我的很多学生都喜欢在SAT作文中用电影《阿凡达》来引证，这是为什么呢？因为在所有已上映的影片中，尽管阿凡达被标榜为震撼的3D科幻片，但它却是一部有着传统的旧式道德观的戏剧，正如Ian 清楚地在该段最后一句话中说的那样："Had the miners succeeded,a small but noble group would have been annihilated at the hands of the greedy,self-serving majority."
