Welcome to class today! Let’s start with some slang
欢迎来到今天的课，我们从俚语开始吧
Our slangs today are both about catching things. Do you know what catch means?
我们今天的两个俚语都和“抓”这个词有关系
The first slang is to "catch some Zs"
第一个叫“catch some Zs”
Yes, we are talking about Zs, just like in the alphabet
对的，我们说的是字母表里的Z
Zs are what are put in these little thought bubbles that come over people’s heads
Z就是我们放在那些浮动泡泡里面的
when they are asleep in cartoons
在卡通里当一个人睡觉的时候就会出现
You might have seen this before
你可能之前见过这个
So when you want to catch some Zs, you want to get some sleep
所以想抓一些Z就是想睡觉
because it’s just like you are catching the thoughts from those sleeping people’s minds
类似于从睡觉的人的意识里抓想法
Our other slang is to "catch some rays"
我们另外一个俚语是“catch some rays”
Rays are beams of light that come from the sun
“rays”的意思是太阳的射线
So, to catch some rays means to 晒太阳
所以，它的意思是晒太阳
If you catch enough rays
如果你晒太阳
You will become tanned ,your skin will become darker
你会变得黝黑
and a lot of people like that
很多人都喜欢有黝黑的皮肤
So people go outside to catch some rays during the summer or really any day that there is good weather
所以他们很喜欢在夏天和晴天的时候出去晒太阳
And both of these slangs are used as verbs
这两个俚语都是当作动词来用的
You can say, I’m tired, I’m going to go catch some Zs
你可以说，我困了
if you want to say that you want to go sleep
我要去睡觉了
If you want to say that you are too pale
如果你觉得自己太白皙了
and you want to get darker
想变得黝黑一些
say "oh, it’s so nice outside, I’m going to go to the beach and catch some rays
你可以说“外面的天气真好，我要去海滩晒太阳
and maybe you can ask a friend to come along"
你也可以邀请朋友一起来。”
So, our example for sentence structure today is
我们今天的句型是
"In order for Jimmy to remain a part of this group, he’s going have to calm down"
“Jimmy如果想留在这个组里，他需要平静自己的脾气”
And the basic structure is "In order for A to do B, it’s going to have to C"
基本句型是“如果A要去做B，A必须具备C才行”
A is our main subject. A wants to do B, but needs to do C to be able to do B
A是我们的主语。A想做B，但是需要做C才能够去做B。
Another example is, "In order for me to get a good grade on this exam
另外一个例子是“如果我想考一个好成绩
I am going to have to study a lot"
我需要好好学习”
