Welcome to class today. So. I’m going to start the slang section with a story.
Once upon a time there was a man named George
George was a really good fighter, and he liked to help people
And there was a town where people couldn’t get water unless they went past a dragon
They fed the dragon all the sheep they had so they could get past it to get water
And when they ran out of sheep, they had to start giving the dragon people
And everyone had their names in a lottery, and every day they would choose one person at random
And one day, the princess’ name was chosen
The king did not want her to die, but he could not stop it
And George rode into town that day, and promised he would save her

And they decided to use his name when they started fighting, in battle
So when people from England rode into battle, for a long time
they would cry, “For Harry, England, and St. George!”
And that’s how the slang, “By George,” was started
So basically, saying, “By George!” It kind of means <Tian a> or “My God!”
By George
But it sounds a little bit better. Some people, myself included, don’t feel very comfortable saying “God.”
IF you want to use the words “By George,”
By George
it can be used to express excitement, astonishment, or saying “of course!”

Sentence Structure. Okay So…today we have an interesting one.
Here is an example: “It doesn’t matter whether it’s rain or shine. The parade will happen”
But the sentence structure means: “it doesn’t matter whether A or B happens , C will happen.”
So let’s try making a sentence with that
“It doesn’t matter if you use peanut oil or soybean oil., This dish will be delicious. ”
That’s our sentence structure for today!
