And what about when teenagers are out at night?
Well,at night,you should
avoid walking on quiet and dark streets.
It's better to walk on busy, main streets.
Why is that?
Well, that way there are a lot of people
on the street and it can make you safe.
Is it okay to take a ride with someone?
Yes, if you know the person well.
But don't accept ride from someone
you have just met.
Okay. What other tips do you have for us?
It's a very good idea to take some bus money
or taxi money with you, just in case.
You should do this even if you are walking
or on your bike,
because you never know what might happen.
And if a teenager needs to make a phone call?
Many teenagers nowadays have cell phones,
but if you don't have one,
keep a phone card or some small change
in your pocket so that you can make a call
from a public phone.
Also,be sure that you know the number to call
for emergency services:
police,ambulance,and fire department.
And one last point:
when you go out,
take some sort of ID card with you --
something with your name,address,
and telephone number on it,
so that people can call your parents
if something happens to you.
