THINK ABOUT IT!
Have you ever seen or used a telescope?
What would you like to use a telescope for? cope?
Find A New Planet?
On Saturday afternoon,Jenny and Brian visit Danny at his house.
When they arrive,he is outside.
"Hi,Danny," says Brian.
"What do you have there?" "It's a telescope," says Danny.
"I told my father that we were studying the solar system at school.
He said that I could use his telescope."
Danny looks through the telescope.
"That's funny," he says."I can only see a tiny circle of light."
Jenny laughs."You're looking through the wrong end,Danny!
Try looking through the other end."
Danny turns the telescope around, and looks through it again.
"That's better," he says.
"But I still don't see any stars or planets," says Danny.
"Of course you don't,Danny!" Brian laughs.
"The sun is shining.
The stars come out at night."
"Can Brian and I come back after supper?" asks Jenny.
"I would love to look through your telescope.
The sun will go down at around 8:00.
After that,we will be able to see the stars shine."
"Sure," says Danny."You two can help me."
"Help you?" asks Brian."What are you trying to do?"
"I want to discover a new planet.
Then I can become an astronauts," says Danny.
"I think you need a bigger telescope,Danny," says Brian.
"Scientists use huge telescopes when they look for planets."
"Bigger than mine?" asks Danny.
"Bigger than your whole house!" says Jenny.
"Well," says Danny,"it's worth a try,even if I don't find a planet."
"We'll come back tonight," says Brian.
"See you then,Danny!" Get More Sleep!
"What's wrong,Danny?
You don't look very sunny today!" asks Jenny.
"I looked for a new planet all night," says Danny.
"I'm going to try again tonight.
If I could only find one,I'd be over the moon!"
"I think that you should go to bed tonight," says Brian.
"You need more sleep.
You look really spaced-out this morning."
"But I don't want to be an ordinary dinosaur," says Danny.
"I want to be a star!
If I discover a new planet, everyone will know my name."
"Brian's right," laughs Jenny.
"You need more sleep,Danny!"
