我已经托福三战过了，对考试各方面都很熟悉，所以大家到考前了有什么疑惑也可以发邮件给我，我会尽力为大家解答。

每天的写作任务是这样的，写好每天的作文发至我的邮箱（如果你想加入作文批改小组请注明），我们将进入互批作文模式。

在此我对每天的topic进行解析和范文精讲，请大家写完作文之后不忘进行比较，找出自己的不足之处。开始吧！

4. It has been said, "Not everything that islearned is contained in books." Compare and contrast knowledge gained fromexperience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source ismore important? Why?

Topic 4Books and experience

Books are considered to be the source ofall knowledge, but all that one learns through a book is only of

theoreticalnature in the form of ideas and concepts. It is essential to utilize（利用，别再说use啦）them

in a real environment andexperience the knowledge that is learned from books.（作者给的观点非常巧妙的结合了ETS提出的问题，他说理论和实践相结合才是非常重要的，但是他显然从第一句上已经有了观点偏向，他是更倾向于experience的。）

Learning is nothing but understanding theworld around us. Books,no doubt are a great source of knowledge as it gives us an idea about a particular subject in detail. Butall that one could learn from it is limited to the level of knowing how acertain phenomenon occurs, or how a certain concept works. The knowledge gained through books alone cannot help anyone, because what one learns through thebooks should be put in to use（也可以说put into practice）to harvest the benefits（请回想一下benefit的用法）. For instance, a person who wants to learn driving can go through various manuals（手册，小册子）andguides that teach people how to drive, but all this knowledge is useful onlywhen you are actually driving the car on the roads.It would be an utter waste of time if one just reads the books and does not usethem for practical purpose.（请注意，作者no doubt这句话用的很好，有心的朋友可以将它抄写下来背诵，句式非常灵活；本段最后一句话中be an utter waste of time译为完全是在浪费时间，这句if从句也值得学习；该段在讲述光有理论就是浪费时间，结合实践的时候它才能最好地发挥它的作用。）

Learning through experience is always a lot different from learning through books.Let us consider thesame example ofa person wanting to learn to drive: even if he goes through every book that is available on driving, still it cannot qualify（作动词译为取得资格）him as an expert driver.This is because of the fact that books about driving can only teach people traffic rules and provide solutions on how to handle（从事，处理）certain situations. The situations faced by a driver could be totally different from what he had learntfrom a book. Sometimes we find that the real environment is quite different from the one perceived（感知，认为）by us through reading books. This is the very reason（这正是……的原因）why, even in educationalinstitutions, all theoretical classes are followed by practical sessions.（别再总是说for example了，学学本段引例子的这句话Let us consider theexample of…换换样子给考官提提神；本段在通过例子解释实践跟理论是完全不一样的，理论需要建立在实践基础上）

Learning through experience can also bemore effective than learning through books because one does not envision（vt.想象，预想）everything on his own, but is given a chance to experience the reality. The art of driving can be enjoyed only when we are behind the wheelsand not when reading it in books. Moreover, any book is actually an account of（译为是一个过去经验的记录）past experiences, i.e.it is based on the experiences of people who tried to develop a new idea. The books are their experiences, telling us what they already have tried. Thus from their experiences we can correct our selves and thus save valuable time and resources. It helps us to concentrate on their failures and to correct them,but they alone cannot teach us everything we need to know. The knowledge learned through books alone cannot help us to face all the exigencies（紧急状况）that we would face in reallife situations; we have to practice on our own.（本段观点所略为一句话：实践出真知，是最行之有效的学习办法。我认为本作文有些死板的地方在于，他三个段落都在说driving的事情，也许是他考试时太紧张想不出更多例子了，有点车轱辘话来回说的嫌疑，老美都喜欢你用鲜活的例子而不是长篇大论的虚话，建议有想法的同学活用例子来丰富你的文章。）

Books are like a guiding light（指路明灯）in one's pursuit forknowledge.（在孜孜不倦追求知识的道路上）But it is left to everyone of us to experience it first hand and learn new things for the betterment of their lives. So the notion"experience is the best teacher" is perfectly true.（结尾点题了，写清自己的观点，到底倾向A还是倾向B，记住一定不能模棱两可。）
