Collin: So you've been to south America. Not many people in China can boast of that.

Victor: I went to the Confucius Institute in Brazil to teach Chinese.
维克多：我去了巴西的孔子学院教汉语。
Collin: Are there many people in Brazil who want to learn Chinese? What language do they speak?
科林：巴西有很多人想学汉语吗？他们自己说什么语言？
Victor: The majority of the population speak Portuguese. Due to the European colonization, Spanish, French and Portuguese are widely spoken.
维克多：多数人说葡萄牙语。由于那里曾是欧洲的殖民地，西班牙语、法语和葡萄牙语是说的最多的语言。
Collin: What about the natives?
科林：那么原住民呢？
Victor: The native people of south America are the Amerindians, but now they only form a minority of the society. Many have their own languages. For example, Mexico has near 80 native languages but none of these is specified as the official language.
维克多：南美洲的原住民是印第安人，但现在他们在人口中只占少数。许多有他们自己的语言，比如，墨西哥的原住民有将近80种语言，但都不是官方语言。
Collin: Is speaking Spanish enough if one wants to go there?
科林：如果想去那里的话，是不是会西班牙语就够了？
Victor: In most countries, it suffices if one can speak Spanish or Portugese.
维克多：在多数国家，能说葡萄牙语或西班牙语就没问题。
