on the nose 恰好

该习语源自广播电台用语。电台播放节目时,每个节目必须按规定时间播出,因而演播时间必须掌握好。时间控制正好,导控室的节目制作人就把手指放在鼻尖上。由此on the nose就用来表示“准确无误,准时,刚好”。

A:汤姆在课上干了坏事儿。
B:Did he get a dressing-down?
B:他挨批评了吗?
A:You hit it on the nose. The teacher was so angry that he scolded him and let him stand for quite a few minutes.
