That little group of words operates in an unusual way sometimes.
这一小组词有时会以不一样的方式使用。
As an adverb, “as well” means “also,” “in addition” or “too.”
作为副词，as well的意思是“也”“另外”或“还”。
We often place “as well” at the end of our sentences.
我们常常把as well放在句子的末尾。
Thank you for meeting me today and for helping me with my errands as well.
谢谢你今天来见我，也谢谢你帮我办事。
We can also add “as” to form the phrase “as well as.”
我们也可以加上as来构成短语as well as。
This means “in addition to” and normally serves as a conjunction.
这个短语的意思是“除了”，通常用作连词。
She studied business in college as well as art history.
她在大学里学过艺术史，也学过商业。
“And” combines two nouns, expressions, or sentences, usually of the same importance.

However, a speaker using the phrase might be bringing additional attention to the noun that comes before “as well as.”

Be careful when using “as well as” with the subject of a sentence.

In this case, the phrase does not act like a normal conjunction.

When we use “as well as” to form the subject of a sentence, English usage calls for us to pay attention to subject-verb agreement.
当我们使用as well as来构成一个句子的主语时，英语语法要求我们注意主谓一致。
Normally, if a subject is singular, we use a singular verb.
通常，如果主语是单数，那么动词也是单数。
If the subject is plural, then we use the plural form of the verb.

But, in many cases, having “as well as” after the subject does not make the subject plural.

My cat, as well as my dogs, plays outside in the yard every day.

If you want to include the noun “my dogs” in the subject, use “and.”
