New Zealand has been one of the countries that's been successful in curbing the virus spread. But it's already announced that next year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation or APEC summit will be held online. New Zealand was to have hosted the Leaders' Meeting in Auckland. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said her government couldn't guarantee what the pandemic situation would be like in 2021. Last year's host Chile canceled the APEC Leaders' Meeting because of violent anti-government protests. This year's host Malaysia has been holding virtual APEC meetings.
