Cold air is coming. Most cities in China are expected to see a sharp decline in temperature. And the cold front is forecast to continue through the week.
Down to minus six degrees Celsius, the Sino-Russian border river Heilongjiang is frozen. With ice floating on the river, ferry boats have been restricted by the local authorities in order to ensure transportation safety on the river.
And moving westward, it's snowing and raining in Urumuqi, the lowest temperature hit minus two degrees Celsius on Monday. Many residents have wrapped themselves up with warm winter clothes.
"I wore a sweater and woollen pants today, because it's too cold now, and perhaps the colder weather is expected to continue during the next couple of days."
Despite the drastically dropping temperature and cold air, there is someone bringing warmth to every single room in the city.
"We'll adjust the heating index according to the weather in order to guarantee a minimum indoor temperature of 20 degrees Celsius for the residents,"
According to the National Meteorological Center, the cold front beginning on Monday is expected to continue through the next few days, leading to a rapid temperature drop in most areas of China.
South China is forecast to witness heavy rainfall, and some cities in the north are expected to hit the freezing point.
Needless to say, it's time to get ready for the winter chill!
