Saturday marks the beginning of the Labor Day holiday in China.
The country's railway authorities estimate that over 45 million train trips are expected to be made from Friday to Monday-a daily average of over 11 million trips.
That's an increase of 9.7 percent compared with last year.
Some of the popular travel destinations include Beijing, Xi'an, Harbin, Xiamen, Kunming and Guilin.
To cope with the travel peak, Beijing west railway station has opened all ticket counters and service windows.
An express path directly linking the ticket counter and departure hall has also been set up.
