In China's eastern province of Jiangsu, production lines for tents are operating non-stop along with other major manufacturers capable of mass producing tents.
Du Chenggang is the manager of Shengye Pipes Company, one of the largest tent manufacturers in the province.
"The tents are specially designed and made for people in quake-hit areas. The canvas used to produce the tent is up to the European Standard. It can resist 99.9% of ultraviolet rays as summer days are approaching. The tent is also fire-proof."
Meanwhile, the biggest community of makeshift houses is under construction in Jiangyou city, located in northern Sichuan province.
The community is expected to accommodate about 70 thousand people after completion.
Xu Zengyang is in charge of the project.
"We will make our utmost efforts to complete the project before the end of June. It is expected to last for about 3 to 5 years. These houses will be earthquake and water-proof."
The community will also be equipped with kitchens, washing rooms and schools to satisfy all the basic needs of the quake victims.
