I'm Seth Meyers and I'm going to read to you from my book, "I'm Not Scared, You're Scared!"

There once was a bear who was easily scared.
从前有一只很容易受到惊吓的熊。
Each night before going to sleep, he would tie a bell to his door that would make a noise if anyone tried to sneak in
每晚睡觉前，他都会在门上系一个铃铛，如果有人试图潜入，铃铛就会发出声响
(because even a bear who is easily scared is a very heavy sleeper).
（因为即使是容易受惊的熊，也会睡得很沉）。
He was even afraid of his own reflection.
他甚至害怕看见镜子里的自己。
And because he couldn't see himself, he never brushed well and always had food stuck in his teeth.
因为他看不见自己，所以他从来没有好好刷过牙，牙缝里总是卡着食物。
When you're a scared bear with food in your teeth, you don't have many friends.
如果你是一只牙缝里卡着食物的惊恐的熊，你就不会有很多朋友。
Bear had one, Rabbit.
熊有一个朋友，就是兔子。
Rabbit was never scared.
兔子从不害怕。
She read scary stories.
她读鬼故事。
She slept with her door wide open.
她睡觉时把门大开着。
And she brushed her teeth while hanging from a tree branch by her ears.
她一边刷牙，一边用耳朵把自己挂在树枝上荡悠。
This gave her very strong ears.
这让她的耳朵非常有力。
One day, Rabbit made an announcement.
有一天，兔子宣布了一个消息。
"Bear, we are going on an adventure!"
“大熊，我们去冒险吧！”
Bear suggested that, instead of going on an adventure, they could read a book about adventures.
熊提议，他们可以不去冒险，而是读一本关于冒险的书。
"That way, if anything goes wrong, we can just close the book."
“那样的话，要是出了什么问题，我们直接把书合上就行了。”
Rabbit looked at her friend and asked, "Bear, are you scared?"
兔子看着朋友问道：“大熊，你是害怕吗？”
And Bear replied "I'm not scared, you're scared!"
熊回答说：“我不怕，你才害怕！”
And with that, Bear walked past Rabbit and out the front door.
说完，熊从兔子身边走过，走出了前门。
Bear stopped to make sure they had everything they needed.
熊停下来，确保他们拥有所需的一切。
"Do I need a bike helmet?" Bear asked.
“我需要自行车头盔吗？”熊问。
"No," said Rabbit.
“不用。”兔子说。
"Do I need oven mitts?"
“我需要烤箱手套吗？”
"NO!" said Rabbit.
“不用！”兔子说。
"Do I need bear repellant spray?"
“我需要防熊喷雾吗？”
"You're a bear." Said Rabbit.
“你自己就是熊。”兔子说。
After walking a while, they came to a small stream.
他们走了一会儿，来到一条小溪边。
"It looks deep," said Bear.
“水看起来很深。”熊说。
"It's NOT deep," said Rabbit.
“才不深。”兔子说。
"It looks cold," said Bear.
“水看起来很凉。”熊说。
"It's NOT cold," said Rabbit.
“才不凉。”兔子说。
"It looks like it's filled with fish who have very sharp teeth,
“看起来水里面全是牙齿非常锋利的鱼，
the kind of fish who would like nothing more than to nibble at the ankles of a delicious bear."
这种鱼最喜欢啃美味的熊腿。”
Rabbit looked at her friend and asked again, "Bear, are you scared?"
兔子看着朋友，再次问道：“大熊，你是害怕吗？”
And Bear replied, once again, "I'm not scared, you're scared!"
然后熊再次回答：“我不怕，你才害怕！”
And with that, Bear walked along the stream until it narrowed enough that he could step over it.
说完，熊就沿着小溪一直走，直到小溪变得很窄，他可以一步跨过去。
There he found Rabbit who had fallen asleep waiting for him.
在对岸，他发现了兔子，兔子已经等他等得睡着了。
After a bit longer, they came to the edge of the woods.
又走了一会儿，他们来到了树林的边缘。
"It looks dark," said Bear.
“树林看起来好黑。”熊说。
"It's NOT dark," said Rabbit.
“才不黑呢。”兔子说。
"It looks spooky," said Bear.
“树林看起来好恐怖。”熊说。
"It's NOT spooky," said Rabbit.
“才不恐怖。”兔子说。
"It looks like it's full of trees that are going to fall down and bonk us on the head," said Bear.
“看起来树林里面的树会倒下来砸到我们的头。”熊说。
Rabbit looked at her friend and said, "Bear, are you scared?"
兔子看着朋友说：“大熊，你是害怕吗？”
And Bear replied, "I'm not scared, you're scared!"
熊回答说：“我不怕，你才害怕！”
And with that, Bear, realizing he would do anything to avoid the dark and spooky woods, walked to the road, where he waited for the bus.
说完，熊知道自己会不惜一切代价避开黑暗恐怖的树林，于是他走到路边等公共汽车。
The bus picked him up and drove him all the way around the forest.
公共汽车接走他，然后一路载着他绕过树林。
When he got to the other side, he woke up Rabbit, who once again, had fallen asleep waiting for him.
当他到达树林另一边时，他叫醒了兔子，兔子又等他等得睡着了。
They walked some more until they came to a mountain.
他们又走了一会儿，直到来到一座山前。
"It looks high," said Bear.
“山看起来很高。”熊说。
"It's NOT high," said Rabbit.
“才不高。”兔子说。
"It looks slippery," said Bear.
“山看起来很滑。”熊说。
"It's NOT slippery," said Rabbit.
“才不滑。”兔子说。
"It looks like one of the rocks will fall and roll and land on my paw." Said Bear.
“看起来山里的石头会掉落，滚下来，然后砸到我的爪子。”熊说。
Rabbit looked at her friend and just had to ask, "Bear, are you scared?"
兔子看着朋友，忍不住问道：“大熊，你是害怕吗？”
And Bear replied, "I'm not scared, you're scared!"
熊回答道：“我不怕，你才害怕！”
And with that, Bear, realizing he would do anything to avoid the high and slippery mountain, walked to the nearest train station.
说完，熊知道自己会不惜一切代价避开又高又滑的山，于是他向最近的火车站走去。
The train took him halfway around the mountain to an airfield.
火车把他带到半山腰的一个机场。
At the airfield, Bear bought a ticket on a helicopter that flew him to the top of the mountain,
在机场，熊买了一张直升飞机的票，直升飞机把他带到山顶，
and dropped him off next to Rabbit, who, no surprise here, had fallen asleep.
然后把他放在兔子旁边，不出所料，兔子已经睡着了。
"Rabbit," said Bear, waking her up.
“兔子，”熊说着，叫醒了她，
"Should we go home?"
“我们要回家吗？”
"I am not going home," said Rabbit, and she bounced off with Bear following behind her.
“我才不回家。”兔子说，然后蹦蹦跳跳地走了，熊跟在她后面。
