Brady, I really want to thank you for taking time to talk with us.

I understand that it's been really hard to get in touch with, you know, people from the outside world.

Cell service has been spotty. There's limited to no Internet.

Can you just tell me a little bit about how difficult the communications have been?

Yeah. You know, in our modern world, it's a really strange feeling to be essentially cut off from the rest of the world.

And that, for me, has kind of come and gone as I've gone in and out of the worst parts of the hurricane zone here.

But for many people, it's just basically a blackout.

Like, I'll go into these towns and communities and find that the people there have no idea what might have happened 2 or 3 miles, 4 miles away.

And then, when I do leave to go file stories or, you know, reach back out to folks outside, I find that people are desperately trying to find their friends and family where the hurricane hit.

They don't always know where they are, whether they're safe, whether they left.

It's definitely been really sort of, like, a key factor of the last few days here -- just this desperation to know more and to check on people you love.

Before we get more into hearing from the people you've spoken to in the past few days in your reporting on the ground in North Carolina, can you walk me through the path that Hurricane Helene took?

When it made landfall, where that happened, and where did it go from there?

The storm came ashore in the Big Bend area of Florida.

Hurricane Helene ravaging the coastline, the strongest on record ever to hit the Big Bend area of Florida, coming ashore tonight as a monster Category 4 storm.

It was moving fast, and so it kind of just barreled up through that part of Florida and into Georgia, past, you know, Atlanta, up around, you know, Greenville/Spartanburg area of South Carolina, and then just smacked into this -- into these mountains of Western North Carolina, and I should say also Tennessee, Eastern Tennessee.

In Tennessee, catastrophic stormwater raging downstream. More than 30 people still missing.

And I believe also parts of Virginia.

We're obviously still grappling with, you know, how far-reaching the effects are.

But one thing is that it really moved fast, except it dumped a lot of rain here on a place that had already seen a lot of rain.

And all of those factors together were just, you know, obviously overwhelming.
