Chinese Authorities Capture Leaders of Telecom Fraud Gang in Myanmar

The leader of a telecom fraud gang in northern Myanmar, Ming Xuechang, took his own life during the arrest operation on the night of November 15.

In a significant effort against transnational crime, Chinese police, operating under the Ministry of Public Security, have successfully apprehended three leaders of a notorious telecom fraud group based in northern Myanmar. The captured suspects, identified as Ming Guoping, Ming Julan, and Ming Zhenzhen, were part of a criminal enterprise that has long targeted Chinese citizens.

The arrest of the trio on Thursday was a result of the China-Myanmar law enforcement cooperation agreement. These arrests followed the issuance of a wanted list by the Wenzhou Public Security Bureau in Zhejiang province on November 12, targeting four individuals, including the still-at-large group leader, Ming Xuechang.
