Six people are still receiving treatment. An official from the city's health department says all patients are in stable condition.

Initial evidence indicates that a gas leak caused the explosion.

Two staffers reportedly told police they smelled gas an hour before the blast and noticed a broken valve that was being replaced at the time.

Yinchuan authorities have detained nine people related to the incident for further investigation.
