For the next ten days, we continued our journey around the coast. We only stopped when we needed fresh water. Soon, we saw that people lived on the land.

在接下来的十天里，我们继续沿着海岸行进。我们只是在需要淡水的时候才停下来。不久，我们看到了住在那片陆地上的人。

One day, we saw a big group of people. They had a lot of children. They watched us from the beach. I wanted to stop. I wanted to go to the people. But the boy didn’t like this idea. He was scared.

一天，我们看到了一大群人。他们有很多孩子。他们在海滩上看着我们。我想停下来。我想去那群人那里。但是那个男孩不喜欢这个主意。他很害怕。

The people on the beach wanted to give us some food. Two men ran to the forest. They returned with some dry meat. We didn’t want to go to the beach. But they didn’t want to swim to us. We didn’t know how to get the food. The people saw this. They put the food on the ground. Then they went back. When they were far from the food, we took the food. Then, we weren’t scared of the people. They came to us. We thanked them. But we had nothing for them.

海滩上的那些人想给我们一些食物。两个人跑到森林里。他们带着一些干肉回来了。我们不想去海滩上。但他们不想游到我们这里来。我们不知道如何拿到那些食物。那群人看到这个情景。他们把食物放在地上。然后他们回去了。当他们远离那些食物的时候，我们拿走了食物。后来，我们不害怕那些人了。他们来找我们。我们感谢他们。但我们没有东西给他们。

Notes:

1.give sb. sth.: 给某人某物，“让步；屈服”可以用give in。

2.return: 返回，“返回某地”可以用return to。

3.go back: 返回，“（时间）逝去”可以用go by。
