On a recent program, we talked about present participles.

The present participle is a word form that ends in -ing and serves several functions in English.
现在分词是一种以-ing结尾的单词形式，其在英语中有多种作用。
One of them is with verbs of perception, also known as sense verbs.
其中一个用法是与感官动词（也被称为感觉动词）搭配。
These are verbs that describe experiences we have through physical senses, such as, sight, sound, touch, smell and taste.
这些动词被用来描述我们通过视觉、听觉、触觉、嗅觉和味觉等身体感觉所获得的体验。
Listen for the sense verb and the present participle in this sentence: I heard people talking as I entered the hallway.
注意听这个句子中的感官动词和现在分词：我走进走廊时听到人们在说话。
Here, the sense verb is "hear", and the speaker used the verb "talk" and its present participle form "talking".
这句话中的感官动词是“hear”，说话者使用了动词“talk”的现在分词形式“talking”。
Notice that the sentence structure is "sense verb + object + present participle".
注意这个句子的结构是“感官动词+宾语+现在分词”。
The object in the sentence is "people".
这个句子的宾语是“people”。
After sense verbs, use of the present participle shows that the speaker experienced only part of what happened.
在感官动词之后使用现在分词表明说话者只经历了所发生事情的一部分。
It emphasizes that an action was in progress or not finished when a speaker experienced it.
它强调当说话者经历某一事件时，某一动作正在进行或尚未完成。
This next example also involves a sense verb and the present participle:
下一个例子也涉及感官动词和现在分词：
Do you feel the floor shaking? I think the washing machine needs repairs.
你感觉到地板在摇晃吗？我认为这台洗衣机需要修理。
The sense verb here is "feel" and the verb "shake" is in its present participle form "shaking".
这句话中的感官动词是“feel”，使用了动词“shake”的现在分词形式“shaking”。
The object is "the floor".
宾语是“the floor”。
Use of the present participle in this sentence suggests the speaker felt only part of the shaking.
这个句子中的现在分词表明说话者只感觉到了一部分“摇晃”。
