今天和你们分享一部甜甜的电影叫《纽约的一个雨天》，

A Rainy Day in New York.

The movie was directed by Woody Allen, who’s now 85 years old already.

这部由甜茶和傻脸Selena主演的电影很是养眼。

是由伍迪艾伦导演的。以前他导过《午夜巴塞罗那》和《午夜巴黎》，

如果你喜欢这种类型的电影应该也会喜欢这一部。

Well, many love movies are just very sweet, but this one is kind of both bitter and sweet cause it shows us some realistic stories in life that many people can relate to.

这部影片不光是甜甜的爱情片，

里面也有一些八十多岁的伍迪艾伦关于阶层、影视圈、社会虚荣面等的思考。

So what’s the story about?

Gatsby and Ashleigh are two college students, both coming from a rich family. Ashleigh is traveling to New York for an important interview with filmmaker Roland Pollard for a college paper. Gatsby is planning a romantic weekend and wants to show her around the city.

But his plan is ruined when Pollard invites Ashleigh to a screening of his new film. Gatsby walks alone through New York, and bumps into Chan Tyrell, who is the younger sister of his ex.

影片讲的是由甜茶饰演的男主Gatsby是个玩世不恭的富二代，

他原本和另一个家里拥有几家银行的白富美Ashleigh在一起（是不是很狗血）

他们两家父母也希望他们的结合能有助双方事业。

可后来在Ashleigh作为校报记者去纽约采访一个知名文艺片导演后，

他们渐渐发现彼此并不合适而分开了。

最后Gatsby和Selena饰演的Chan——他前女友的妹妹意外在一起了。

So why did Gatsby and Ashleigh break up even they seemed like a perfect match? Both are from a rich family, both studied in the same college, both looked pretty...but actually they see things in a very different way.

为什么看起来门当户对、天造地设的一对会分开呢？

其实所谓的门当户对，更需要的是观念上的门当户对。

虽然他们两家家里都很有钱，

但Gatsby一直看不惯富家太太很多很“装”的做派，

而Ashleigh本身就很虚荣。

Gastby拒绝参加妈妈举办的下午茶和晚宴的原因是：

It's rich housewives who have the leisure to pursue esoteric culture.

The out of work, discussing the out of print.

Esoteric /esəˈterɪk/ 是“只有内行人才懂的”意思。

他说她们的下午茶就是一群有时间的家庭主妇在谈论着

一些其实只有内行人才能懂的文化。

”The out of work, 这些没有工作的人，

discussing the out of print. 在谈论那些已经绝版的古老艺术，“

装作她们很懂的样子。

真是高级黑。

而其实Gatsby是真正喜欢、欣赏艺术的人，

谈起纽约，他想到的是要去看Ludwig Bemelmans很old New York style的壁画，

要去MoMa 现代艺术博物馆看Weegee的摄影展，

提前预定一票难求的音乐剧Hamilton门票。

可Ashleigh回忆起她去过的纽约，只记得：

All I remember is we got incredible bargains. My parents could not believe that you could buy a Birkin bag and a Rolex on the blanket off the street. For only 200 dollars.

你可以只花200美刀在大街上买到山寨版的爱马仕铂金包和劳力士手表。

他们本就不是一路人。

当Gatsby多次谈到自己喜欢下雨天的纽约带给他的一种艺术感，

Ashleigh完全get不到，

在被导演问到她对Gatsby的评价的时候，Ashleigh说

"He' s unusual. Quaint. "

他很不寻常，很老派。

That’s the word I would use to describe Gatsby, Quaint. He’s exotic.

Searching, shall we say, for his romantic dream from a vanished age.

“老派，这是我会用来形容他的词。

他一直都在寻找那些已经是逝去年代的浪漫梦想。”

换句话说觉得他不切实际、脑子有病。

而Gatsby说过的同样的话到了真正适合他的人Chan这里，

一切都变得非常美好。

当时Gatsby弹着钢琴看着雨天，跟Chan说：

I love the "cocktail lounge" piano. 我喜欢酒吧里的那种钢琴。

Outside it drizzles. Grey. New York city, enveloped in the light mist. Two lovers have a date to meet at 6 o' clock.

—— 外面天灰灰的，下着雨。纽约被笼罩在轻轻的薄雾中。

两个爱人约定晚上六点见。

Selena饰演的Chan接着他的话说：

At Grand Central Station, under the clock, like in the movie.

在中央车站的车楼下见面，就像电影一样。

Gatsby：I love that movie. But I see it outside. 露天下看的。

Chan：At the East River with the tugboats around the water? I love tugboats.

在东湖坐着拖船的时候吗？我太喜欢拖船了。

Gatsby接着Chan的想象说：

Almost, you’re in the Rainbow Part. 快了，你就快到彩虹公园了。

Chan：I know! I know! Under the clock.

The Delacorte Park, where all the animals go around in Central Park.

德拉科钟，那里聚集着中央公园的各种小动物。

Gatsby：I love it. It’s very old movie. 我很喜欢，非常老电影式。

Chan：My mom and I used to watch old movies all the time.

我也经常和我妈一起看老电影。

一切都是那么自然。彼此互相欣赏。

Chan甚至在Gatsby还和姐姐在一起的时候就偷偷暗恋过他，

而喜欢他的原因，

居然就是被Ashleigh吐槽过很多遍的“eccentric——古怪的。”

Chan says she had a crush on Gatsby at that time.

She says to Gatsby, “I don’t know, maybe it’s because you took her to do oddball things.”

她说可能是因为当时Gatsby总是带她姐姐去做一些古怪的事情。

You took her to one of those divey piano bars, where no one else ever took her. I loved that. I loved hearing every detail. You were not like all the other idiots she' s dated. I thought you' re a special idiot.

因为他会带女朋友去以前没有人带她去过的钢琴酒吧、中央公园、

做一些很大胆的事。

所以Chan宠溺地说觉得Gatsby是个“特别的傻瓜。”

如此“臭味相投”，他们确实才是应该在一起的人。

兴趣相不相同或许没那么重要，但彼此能欣赏彼此很重要。

伍迪艾伦的电影也揭示了另一个现实：

很多误以为自己攀上了高枝儿的女孩儿，最后都摔得很惨。

When Ashleigh gets the chance to hang out with a famous director, a movie star, and a popular screen writer, she starts to lose herself. The director calls her "muse," the screen writer says she has given him inspiration, and the screen writer says she' s very understanding. Ashleigh buys them all.

当Ashleigh因为采访的机会而接触到了知名导演，

又意外接触了他的编剧和另一个男明星，

并且听到他们一个夸自己是女神、一个夸自己带给了别人启发、还有一个夸自己为别人着想，Ashleigh就沦陷了。

当她意识到男明星Francisco Vega只是想和自己上床的时候，她的第一反应是：

He obviously wants to go to bed with you. How do you feel about this? You have a boyfriend. Yes, but...This is Francisco Vega. Apart from him, being so sexy. He' s an international icon. This is the story you can tell your grandchildren.

”他是一个国际巨星啊。这可是你老了也能告诉自己孙子的事情啊。“

直到被男明星的正牌女朋友抓包落荒而逃，

Ashleigh都没意识到自己不过是这些人眼里的玩物，这也很贴合她虚荣的人设。

不过在面对这种“偶像明星爱上我”的桥段里，又有多少人能真正保持理性呢？

Ashleigh所代表的，或许就是导演伍迪艾伦在纸醉金迷的娱乐圈

所经常目睹的某一群人。
