今天跟你们分享一部很适合在遇到难题 有点丧的时候看的经典奥斯卡电影《永不妥协》，英文名是女主的名字Erin Brockovich.

Erin Brockovich is a single mom of three children and has been divorced twice. She convinces a past lawyer who failed her in a car accident case to hire her on as an office assistant.

影片讲的是一个离过两次婚、带着三个娃的单亲妈妈Erin，

在遭遇一次车祸后，求着没帮她打赢车祸官司的律师雇佣她作为助理，

好有生活开支养孩子。

Later Erin finds something's going on in a real estate case. After some investigation, she discovers that a massive gas and electric company, PG&E, is poisoning hundreds of people.

后来没想到在一个房地产案件里她发现一家叫PG&E的巨头电气公司

在毒害着成百上千的镇上居民，让很多人患上了癌症。

而受害者们还对此一无所知。

And in the end, Erin and her boss win the lawsuit, and help their clients, those innocent residents, win a huge amount of compensation, the highest seen in the civil lawsuit cases in the U.S. history.

没拿过法律学位的Erin，最后帮这些人打赢了官司，

拿到了美国民事案件历史上最高的赔偿金。

故事听起来是不是很不可思议？可它居然是由真实故事改编的。

Erin是怎么做到的呢？

First things first, even during Erin’s most depressed period, she still values herself deeply.

Though she doesn’t have a law degree, she knows she’s a capable worker and deserves a job. Not because she’s a single mother of three kids and needs other people’s sympathy, but because she is worth it.

就算处在最低谷——离了婚、带着孩子、被车撞、

自己银行卡只剩下16美元的情况下，

她依旧深信自己是有价值的。

在被办公室老板和其他员工都嘲笑的情况下，

Erin还是据理力争、说服律师给她工作。

并且她清楚自己要的是什么，从不管别人如何看轻自己。

在很多女员工因为Erin穿着性感而孤立她的时候，她老板问她：

"Why aren't you out to lunch with the girls? You're a girl."

Erin回答说：

"I guess I'm not the right kind."

自己只是和她们不一样，并不是自己做错了什么。

Then her boss advises her to dress properly, she replies,

"I think I look nice. And as long as I have one ass instead of two, I'll wear what I like."

当老板建议她穿着得体的时候，

她没有像很多女生在被嘲笑的时候会表现出来的为自己感到羞耻，

相反，她很自信地反驳说

“只要我是有一个臀部而不是两个，我就会穿我喜欢穿的衣服。”

（女神Julia Roberts也是把Erin的性感又大方演绎得非常到位）

还补刀了一句：“Maybe you should re-think those ties."

——或许你才应该看看你那过时的领带了。

后来在跟资料局的借阅案子相关资料的时候，

Erin正是合理地展现了自己的性感，轻松说服了管理员答应自己进去查阅。

女性的性感只要运用得当，就是武器，不应该被看轻。

Every woman has the right to be sexy, to be herself. You should refuse to be shamed when you’re judged by other people based on how you look.

而比起其他看似很专业的律师，专业知识不足的Erin反倒胜出了。为什么呢？

因为她对自己的工作有着强烈的使命感。

The greatest difference between Erin and other professionals involved in the case is that Erin takes everything to heart. She meets the people as a person, but not just a client or a number in a document.

When a young professional female lawyer accuses Erin of having some mistakes in her research, in response, Erin challenges her to ask her any question relating any of the cases, and rattles it off by memory.

当一个穿着一身正装的女性律师高傲地质疑Erin的调查的专业性的时候，

Erin底气十足地让她随便从600多个受访居民里挑一个询问自己。

没想到Erin能把每一个受害者的姓名、电话、具体遭遇、家庭亲属关系等等

都倒背如流。

在她看来，受害居民不只是她的客户，而是一个个等着她解救的人。

也正是因为Erin付出的这一切，这个落魄的单亲妈妈好不容易重新赢回了被人尊重的感觉。

Erin tells her boyfriend that for the first time in her life, she feels being respected. She was once the beauty queen before, who also had dreams and ambitions.

However, life knocked her down, luckily, it didn’t kill her.

Erin还曾是个选美冠军，她也曾有过高光时刻，有过梦想。

后来生活的不易让她险些忘了自己的路。

所幸她坚持了下来，重新找回了自己的价值。

就像电影的中文译名《永不妥协》——

当你在做一件事很累很累想放弃的时候，

再忍忍坚持一会儿，没准下一个拐弯就是峰回路转。

想起上一期有听友给我留言说是怎么看待《心灵奇旅》里面吹长号的康妮的。

这个点很有意思，听友很细心。

康妮在被人嘲笑后去找老师说自己再也不学长号了，

可当老师鼓励她再演奏一遍的时候，她发现自己还是如此地痴迷，

所以后来又走开了，我想她是重新又去练了。

其实我们也会有很多这种像康妮所经历的时刻，就算事情是自己想做的，

被嘲笑或遇到挫折还是会有无数次想放弃的时候，但如果能不那么快妥协放弃，

更广阔的世界没准就在下一个转角。
