今天跟你们分享一部很治愈的经典电影--《托斯卡纳艳阳下》Under the Tuscan Sun.

The main character is called Frances. She is an American writer who just went through a painful divorce. In an attempt to bring her out of a deep depression, her closest friend Patti gives her a gift: a plane ticket to visit Tuscany in Italy.

35岁的美国作家Frances刚经历了离婚。被前夫出轨也就算了，按照加州的法律她还要把自己买的房子分给前夫并支付赡养费。

最后她选择了把房子整套留给前夫，自己带上分到的房子一半价值的钱，拿着闺蜜给的机票，到意大利托斯卡纳旅行。

During the trip, Frances impulsively decides to purchase a crumbling villa and struggles to start her life anew.

(villa是比house更高级的别墅、豪宅)

She starts to repair the villa and seek love. Although life gets in the way of love, her wishes come true in unexpected ways.

后来她冲动地决定在托斯卡郊区买下了一栋豪宅，但已经有三百多年历史，很破旧。她开始装修，重新开始新的生活。期间她也一次又一次因为遇到不合适的人和糟心的事绝望过，但都迎来了意料之外的美好结局。

If you're also going through some unhappy things like Frances, here are some lessons from the movie for you.

Lesson No.1

Don’t regret any choices you ever made. They made who you are.

Frances让我们知道：不要后悔每一个决定，它们造就了独一无二的你。

Regrets are a waste of time. They're the past crippling you in the present.

Frances says, Any arbitrary turning along the way and you would be elsewhere; you would be different.

回首以前的路，任何一个不同的选择，我们都不会在现在这个地方，都会和现在不一样。

"Where you are is who you are. The further inside you the place moves, the more your identity is intertwined with it. Never casual, the choice of place is the choice of something you crave."

你现在所处的位置就是你。你内心想往某个位置移动更多，你的身份就会跟它纠缠更多。所以你的选择都是你的渴望，不会是随机的。就像Frances看似冲动地买下了异国他乡的房子，但其实她后来回想起来——

"I had the urge to examine my life in another culture and move beyond what I knew."

她迫切想要在另一种文化里重新审视自己的生活，不愿再回到美国。也才有了后来她想要的生活。

So sometimes you have to let something happens on its own, and don’t be afraid to move on.

生活如戏，原本给Frances机票安慰她的闺蜜Patti，也被爱人抛弃了。但她自己怀着孕飞到意大利找Frances，勇敢地把孩子生下来了，也收获了不一样的幸福。

Patti says, Well there came a time in each one of those lives where they are standing at a crossroads... someplace where they had to decide whether to turn left or right. This is no time to be a chicken-shit.

“其实每个人都会有这样的经历，站在十字路口，你必须选择向左还是向右走。你没有时间做一个胆小鬼。”与其花时间后悔，不如大步向前，凡事自有安排。

Lesson No.2

Always keep your childish innocence and enthusiasim.

不管发生了什么，永远不要失去孩子般的天真和对生活的热情。 这是Frances在意大利认识的好朋友Katherine说的。Katherine是无比潇洒、活在当下的女性。

She would rub a fluffy duckling on her cheek and throat and listen to it cheep. She would also dance in a fountain to play a role she likes in a movie regardless of who’s looking.

她会在菜市场用脸和脖子贴着爱抚一只小鸭子，听它吱吱叫，感受那份小快乐；也会一时兴起在喷泉里跳舞，扮演自己喜欢的电影里的角色，不管有多少人围观和嘲笑。

She always says, "never lose your childish enthusiasm and things will come your way."

她总是说“不管发生什么事情，要永远保留像孩子般对生活的热情，你想要的自然会到来。”所以刚开始总是很魂不守舍、蓬头垢面的Frances被Katherine点醒了，她也开始装扮自己，穿着新买的白裙子去见自己心爱的人，日子也终于灿烂了起来。就像中介马提尼为了鼓舞Frances给她讲的小故事：

Between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice.

”在奥地利和意大利之间的阿尔卑斯山，有一段路叫Semmering，非常陡峭、非常高。他们在上面建了铁路，用来连接维也纳和威尼斯。

They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew some day, the train will come.

这些铁路是在还没有火车之前就建好了。因为他们相信总有一天火车会来。“自己唯一能做的就是做好准备，迎接美好的到来。

Just because what you want can't happen immediately, that doesn't mean it will never happen. Prepare for what you want, so when it is time, you're ready.

Just like what Frances says at the end, "Unthinkably good things can happen, even late in the game."

磕磕绊绊后，Frances最后也遇到了爱她的人，如愿定居在了托斯卡纳。“美好的事情总会到来，而当它来晚时，也不失为一种惊喜。”
